On the southeastern tip of the Cyclades, Amorgos shares the same weather conditions with the rest cluster of islands, distinguished for the evaporation fog at high altitude levels especially during summer time (when the winds are not so strong). Amorgos is also home to the blowing winds (meltemia) and obscure temperature differences getting from one point of the island to the other. For instance, it can be 27 ℃ in Aegiali (sea level) and at the same time (somewhere nearby Chora) around 22 ℃. In addition to the above, Amorgos has three three steep hills over 600 meters.

Summer in Amorgos begins from May and lasts until early September, with an average temperature hovering around 32-35 °C (July-August, aka the warmest months of the year). On these two months, the seasonal winds make also an appearance along with the dry northern winds in Aegean Sea (especially during the morning and the afternoon). However, these constant blowing winds reduce the feeling of heat into more reasonable temperatures, creating the best conditions for visiting Amorgos. Finally, it gets a bit chilly after the sun goes down, so you should always carry a hoodie to wear.

Autumn (early September) is all about moody skies that add a touch of stunning drama to every stretch of beach in Amorgos. When the strong winds in Cyclades (known also as meltemia) back down, and the northern airstreams turning to the west and the south, the atmosphere contains humidity and the density of the clouds (creating fog), give the impression of winter, when at the same time the sun rays piercing through the sea waves. However, there is a short chance to experience heavy rainfalls, unlike during October when intense rainstorms can occur within minutes.

Winter in Amorgos it might not be linked to snowfalls and bone-chilling cold, however it doesn’t bask in scorching hot temperatures and clear sunny skies every day. Winter here is characterized by fierce breezes, few random rainfalls and high humidity levels (especially during the night), as well as a further drop in average temperatures.

The advantage of visiting Amorgos in the spring is the chance to admire its beauty with the throngs of tourists long gone. The coastline is practically deserted, which allows you to explore and experience the island thoroughly. On the other hand, it can simultaneously get sunny and cloudy or even rain for a short period of time, while the average temperature hovers around 18 ℃-20 ℃.
