At the most northern part of Amorgos, Tholaria, is a hamlet amphitheatrically built above Aegiali, nearby the archaeological site of the homonymous ancient city. With its white-washed cube houses built next to and on top of one another and a maze of paved narrow alleys covered with delicate arches, the settlement also offers a couple of rooms-to-rent, hotels, several taverns and kafeneia (traditional Greek coffee shops), as well as the imposing church of Agioi Anargiroi.
