Getting there

Direct access to the island of Donousa is possible via ferry from the port of Piraeus and the islands of Naxos, Syros, Paros, Amorgos and Astypalaia. A quick way to reach Donousa, however, is by domestic flights to the airports of Naxos, Syros and Paros and from there, transport via ferry to Donousa.

Weather

Settled in the southeastern corner of Cyclades, Donousa is nestled between the islands of Naxos and Amorgos. Together with the fact that is facing the Icarian Sea, it is no wonder why Donousa is exposed to strong winds in its northern part (whilst in neighboring islands there's almost no wind or weather there at all).In fact, during wintertime boats are unable to make their way to Donousa’s port under high winds and waves, battling in and out of the straits of Makares (a hazardous cluster of islets).
